EcoRise Deploys Community-Managed Flood Warning Systems in Jonglei State

By EcoRise CommunicationsClimate Resilience

In response to severe cyclical flooding across Jonglei State, EcoRise South Sudan has deployed community-managed early warning river gauges and solar-powered flood monitoring systems.

“By combining traditional flood forecasting with simple modern gauges and rapid SMS alerts, our communities can protect their seed stores, livestock, and homes before the floodwaters arrive,” said an EcoRise South Sudan program lead.

The initiative works closely with local community committees in Bor, Twic East, and Ayod, training local flood wardens to monitor water levels and coordinate emergency preparedness.
