Partners who invest in us, not just our projects

By EcoRise Field CommunicationsPartnership

Local organisations in South Sudan are often given funds to deliver activities, but rarely given support to grow as institutions. Without strong systems for finance, reporting and safeguarding, even the most committed local organisation struggles to attract funding and stay in the field for the long term.

That is why we were honoured to host a partnership-strengthening visit from Cohere at our office in Juba.

This visit was about more than checking activities. Together, our teams reviewed IREP’s progress, discussed challenges openly and honestly, and explored how EcoRise’s systems could become stronger. It was a conversation between partners, not an inspection.

Partnerships like this treat local organisations as long-term leaders in their communities, not short-term contractors. A stronger EcoRise means better protection of every pound entrusted to us, safer programmes for women and children, and an organisation ready to serve more families for years to come.

Thank you, Cohere and the Quadrature Climate Foundation, for believing in locally led change and for walking this journey with us.

The result is projects that do not fit, mistrust over who benefits, and change that disappears when the funding ends.
