From Community Roots to Lasting Impact

EcoRise South Sudan (ERSS) was established in Juba, South Sudan, by dedicated South Sudanese community builders, peace practitioners, and youth advocates who witnessed firsthand the urgent need for integrated, grassroots-led solutions to conflict, displacement, and environmental vulnerability.
Having experienced the realities of displacement and protracted crisis across East Africa and South Sudan, our founding team recognized that sustainable peace cannot be separated from climate adaptation, economic dignity, and social justice. When youth lack livelihoods and families face recurring climate shocks like catastrophic flooding and drought, communities become vulnerable to cyclical conflict.
In South Sudan, community struggles cannot be compartmentalized. The fight for lasting peace is inseparable from the fight for a resilient environment, digital inclusion, and gender equality. A young person equipped with green enterprise skills becomes a pillar of community stability; a woman endowed with financial capital protects household dignity and food security.
EcoRise South Sudan was born in June 2024 (formally registered with RRC Registration No. 5927) from this integrated conviction: that local knowledge, led by women and youth, is the most powerful engine for transformative change. Guided by integrity, inclusion, and community ownership, our strength lies in connecting the frontline realities of our communities with sustainable systems of support.
